Program

The 2009 conference is being held in North America's oldest city with the theme of "Embracing the Future". Many things change in Healthcare. This trade show and education forum will provide opportunities for discussion around how we manage not only for today, but to help us to better prepare for moving successfully into the future. Our aim is to select a great mix of "real life" experienced speakers that will provide discussion on sustainability and the adoption of green practices to provide work spaces that are comfortable, safe and environmentally friendly for patients, visitors and staff..

The program will include both sessions on succession planning to ensure our good work continues, and on embracing new technologies that help us provide quality services. Whether we are planning, building, renovating, or just providing maintenance services, we need teams that have expertise in patient care, architectural design, engineering technical design, and construction so we can develop processes to support the infrastructure we need to carry us into the future.

TRACK 8B:  The Chester Network

Mark Read, Energy Stewardship Specialist, London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph's Health Care, London ON

My name is Chester and I have been engaging staff in a behavioural change-based energy saving program for the past 5 years. During that time, I have seen what is possible when individuals participate in a hospital’s effort to reduce energy consumption. I’d like to see every hospital benefit from creating a culture of energy efficiency in their organization as we have, and I’m willing to provide whatever level of assistance necessary to make that happen.

The Chester Network is not for profit organization created by healthcare professionals in a hospital environment. Our goal is to make it possible for you to run a fully operational energy awareness program in your facility without investing the time and resources required to do it on your own - on an ongoing basis. Once you’ve learned the ropes, you’ll be tapped into the network and provided with everything you need to sustain your program with minimal effort. You own it… you run it… we make it easy. Let’s do this… together!
